Thinking about selling on Ebay?

If you are thinking about selling on eBay, then you should consider attending eBay University. I attended in Austin, Texas back in 2005 and although I had already been selling on eBay for a few years prior, I learned a bunch of things that helped me sell more and keep my 100% eBay rating. I sold under another account with a business partner starting in the beginning of eBay until the end of 2003, then I split off and started out on my own in 2004 selling things like sports collectables, jewelry, electronics, household items, coins, and books.  I'm wickedlightphoto on eBay if you'd like to look me up.

This past year, I really haven't sold anything, but starting in 2014, I'm going to start selling again. And since so many new things have come to eBay since my inactivity, I started looking into once again, attending an eBay University class and will take the 'Building your Business on eBay for the more experience seller'. I used to run an eBay Store too and was at the 2005 eBay Conference in San Jose, CA. when 'Stores' were first announced.

A few of my tips to being successful on eBay, at least how I've done it thus far: Get involved, learn everything you can about eBay, shipping, and your products. Always ship on time or early, provide lots of open communication between yourself and your customer, build shipping into your product price if possible as free shipping is the new norm on eBay, take quality pics and most of all, put everything about your product in the description.

The eBay Experience

In need of a little extra cash? Try eBay. They've more than doubled their 2Q earnings, and revenue is up http://ow.ly/clHhi

I've been selling on eBay since 1999, back when listing prices were higher, and there were far less sellers. Beyond the technical atributes of the site, is the community within, which holds annual conferences at different locations in the US. I attended my first and so far only eBay Conference in San Jose back in 2005 and was amazed by how many people were in attendance. Upon my arrival I was greeted with a name badge and my choice of ribbons that presented my experience and knowledge of eBay. The ribbons were kinda like an automatic intro to other simular sellers and bumping into a stranger quickly changed into possibly seeing a friend again. Everyone was so friendly, some even extremely outgoing doning "eBay Conference wear" such as crazy hats or brightly colored clothing. Sitting at a table to relax after hitting the giant exhibition area I met a group of everyday people that were Platinum Sellers and made upwards of $10k or more a month selling everything from used forklifts to celebrity garage sale finds. This was the group I from that point on, aspired to be a part of.

My conference experience was amazing and I learned a slew of new information in the many classes and lectures I attended. I even took a field trip to the eBay headquarters, had my photo taken in front of their corporate sign, browsed their extensive Pez dispenser collection (which actually helped launch the company) and purchased some eBay garb in their on-site store. Would I recommend attending an eBay Conference, yes, and how about selling on eBay, yes again. But before you go running off and just starting your eBay empire just yet, you need to learn a few things about the right way to list and sell your wares. I recommend you check out the following links, the first to eBay University, a traveling classroom with eBay Experts that really get into the how, why, who and how much: http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/howtosell/university.html

The second is the Learning Center Online (part of eBay University): http://pages.ebay.com/education/

And here's a recommended reading list of books if you still need more info or just really want to be uber successful on eBay and earn a full-time income selling whatever you want.

Although we're taught from an early age to respect the lines by staying within them, sometimes it's warranted to step or 'draw' outside them. Introducing: "Business Starter Packages", a great way to get started and move forward.

After receiving several requests for a lower cost, "all-in-one" online solution, I came up with the Business Starter Packages. I know how hard it is to start a business, much less grow one, so for all those shoe-stringer's out there, either one of these options is a great place to start. And for these prices, you shouldn't expect a fancy site filled with a boat load of moving flash graphics, but you will get a practical website that is geared towards pushing your business forward and helping you establish a social media presence that get's your products and/or services in front of potential customers.
